The bones, ligaments, and muscles of your neck support your head and allow for motion.

Any abnormalities, inflammation, or injury in these structures can cause neck pain or stiffness.
Many people experience neck pain or stiffness occasionally.

In many cases, it’s due to poor posture or overuse. Sometimes, neck pain is caused by injury from a fall or whiplash.

Some causes --

Bone spurs

overgrowths of bone.

Herniated discs
Spinal discs can develop cracks, which allows leakage of the internal cushioning material. This material can press on the spinal cord and nerves, resulting in symptoms such as arm numbness as well as pain that radiates down an arm..

Injury

injury to your neck during a fall or car accident or whiplash.

Overuse
Some occupations or hobbies involve repetitive movements or heavy lifting. This can put extra pressure on the spine, resulting in early wear and tear.

Ligament stiffness

The tough cords that connect your spinal bones to each other can become even stiffer over time, which affects your neck movement and makes the neck feel tight.

Bad Posture

For many individuals, bad posture is one of the leading causes of neck pain. The biomechanics of the body can be altered by bad posture.

Discomfort in the neck can be due to too much pressure on the cervical region, which has caused damage to the body biomechanically.                  To get rid of this, it is recommended to practice and maintain correct postures. This can help to avert some serious health issues.
